The Elder selection considerations include: Traditional Values and Identity: Each will speak of his/her oneness with nature, holistic world view, and cultural, linguistic and geographical diversities. These individuals take pride in their heritage, remain living with the natural world, and are able to describe their involvement in their own respective tribal languages.

| Relationships: Chosen leaders exemplify through their social interactions and values the basic concept of all tribal peoples: that all nature is interrelated and that everything has a place. There are no extras. Our "sensitization" process must be based upon this concept. Teachers are responsible for more than just the"3 Rs." They must also teach life skills, social interactions and values. This is true in tribal societies where competition is a fact of life. |
